A whole week has passed since 2016, and I am so happy to start the year positively. One of the things I learnt while overcoming my bouts of depression was to create a positive environment.
Before you stop reading because you are not in a positive environment currently, I want you to breathe. Read the breathing techniques I shared in the last post, if necessary.
Here’s the thing, lovely. A positive environment is created by you, not by anyone else. How you perceive the environment around you is how it will be. So stop thinking of how horrible the environment you’re in, but think of the positives of it.
Here’s 5 ways how I create a positive environment for me:
1. Begin with the simple things
2. Declutter your area, declutter your life
A clean and clear area will lead to development of positive thoughts and ideas, making you even more productive than ever. List down all the areas you think needs decluttering. Number them in order of which needs to be done first. The area in your life that needs the most declutter is priority one, so start there.
I began my declutter journey by freeing my mind from the things that are hinderig my success i.e. my debts. I focused on decluttering debts in my life, bit by bit. Once I saw progress, I can begin on the other area in my life. This time, it was my relationships. I spent a large amount of time reconnecting with those who matter, and removing those who don’t from my life.
Fast forward to today, I am in the midst of declutting my emails and unsubscribing myself from things that may hurt my recovery. I’ll share more on that in time to come.
3. Hang out with positive people
You must interact with others to fight depression. Hang out with positive people, or people who will make you happy on a regular basis. When you are surrounded by happy and positive people, it’s hard not to want to be happy and positive as well.
As for me, I choose to hang around with entrepreneurs and business owners who are positively striving to create a positive difference in the community or the world. That makes me really happy and eventually leads to my being positive.
Once in awhile, I will spend time with the people who needs your love the most: the orphans, the less fortunate, and the poor. Their will to continue life, their sheer desire to stay alive and be happy doing it.. Makes you really embarrassed facing life’s challenges like this. They let you see that there is really no reason to be depressed at all in life, my lovelies. Try it.
4. Remind yourself to think positive
It’s easy to forget the need to be positive. I’ve tried many ways to remind myself, but I found that using Apps that reminds works best for me.
I trust Balanced (for iOS). You can set reminders for activities you need to do on a regular basis. Here’s how my screen looks like:
Having a constant reminder to create a positive environment leads to constant action. Action is the one that will make anything we want achieveable, my lovelies. You have it in you, for sure! Let it shine! ?
5. Give what you lack
Everyone of us have a main reason for our depression; mine was debts and finances. What Deepak Chopra shares is that if you give what you lack, the universe (I belive it’s actually Allah that controls the universe) will conspire to let you have it.
I have personally tried this and it works wonders, MashaAllah!
I knew that in order for me to be financially free, I had to make time for my business. What I lacked was time. I felt that I always was in a state of not having enough time.
So, I began making time for everything. I planned my movements, my actions and even to the every little detail of those actions. When I made time, I realise I had more time to focus on settling my debts. Then, I had even extra time to focus on my family and relationships.
Try it, you’ll be amazed at the results. Do it sincerely, and don’t expect anything in return. You will find what you seek, if your heart is pure to search for it.
Lovelies, these are 5 ways how you can create a positive environment to live in. You are the only one that can change, so take action to change YOU.
As a bonus tip, remember to take full responsibility of your actions. Take ownership of your actions and the results of your actions.
You can control your life and how you want to live your life. Your happiness is yours to feel, so focus on recovering.
No matter what challenges life brings,
Always remember that
YOU ARE WORTH IT! ?
